Christians believe that true fulfilment comes from letting Christ be the driving force, letting Him guide our steps, gaining purpose in life. Thus it’s God who is the source of fulfilment, which makes sense, since He is also the source of life.
Because He created us, He knows how our hearts work and what they long for. And as Creator of our hearts, only He knows how to fill them and fill them abundantly.
What exactly will He fill us with, though?
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
Submitting to the authority of God leads to such incredible joy and deep-seated peace. Through the various hardships, difficulties, and conflicts in life we can fall back into the arms of our Father and reach down into the abundant wellspring of grace we have because of Jesus.
Who we are and the purpose in life each of us has is a direct connection to what role Christ plays in our lives: whether He is a background figure or the Ruler of all. If He is the One holding the reigns of your life, then He is shaping you to become more like Him. if He is not, then you will find yourself always striving, always working towards, always yearning for more, but never finding it.
But, thanks to His sacrificial death on the cross, we are already complete in Christ!
And this is an exciting journey. We get to discover the richness of God’s love for us. We learn what it means to trust Him in the highs and lows. We experience His power and grace in our daily lives. We get to intimately know the Creator of the universe.
Let your heart be filled daily by your Lord; and as He ministers to you, let His grace overflow out of you into the lives of others. This is His will, and this brings lasting fulfilment!
